Gradings are formal tests to get your next belt. They are generally held once per semester. You can find the order of the belts here. These ost £25 for each grade.
In order to attempt to grade you will need to have attended at least two sessions per week and have your instructor's permission. You can find the grading syllabus here. There is also a video playlist to help you remember some of the novice to yellow techniques.
Feel free to talk to the instructor at any time if you have any grading questions.
Gradings are typically held in December and March. If you are planning to grade, make sure to keep your calendar open around this time. Also keep an eye on the Facebook page for any updates.
Tips
Our top tips to prepare for the grading are:
Know the date, time and location of the grading. Be familiar with the techniques you may be asked to demonstrate.
Drink lots of water and stock up on carbs the day before so your body is in top shape for the big day.
Wash your gi, remove any tags from your belt and gi, make sure you have your TJJF badge sewn on your right shoulder, and cut your nails.
On the day itself, be active, be keen, and show off the results of all that practice!
